Project started October 2023,

In the last episode we had cut out all the MDF cross sections for the oiltank and glued them together, the goal here is to get the shape of the side panels sorted out with even gaps all around and following the "S" shape of the downtubes under the shockmounts. First job was lots and lots of sanding!

We cut the wooden buck in half to make it a bit easier to work with. We had made it deliberately oversized so we could gradually remove material untill the fit was just right. Left and right side are not the same by the way. The 3 holes are to line up the two half oiltank bucks with eachother.

As we were getting closer to the final shape we decided to tack a temporary bracket in the frame that the 2 halves could fit on so that they would not move aroound while fine tuning the gaps. We bent the clutch arm a bit so there would be a bit more room for oil in the tank and did a little bit of grinding on the frame also, again to get the gaps as even as possible.
