The Beltsander
In the previous episode I started converting my beltsander to vertical so it takes up less space, makes it easier to sand a 90 degrees angle which is what I need most of the time, and last but not least to give it a more comfortable working height. While I was doing this I decided that the pedestal could also hold my hydraulic press to save even more space, so in the first pic below you can see the new plan!

I lowered the working height 7 cm so I can sand higher objects, which meant I had to relocate the top hinge and latch. I rewired the switch to reverse the direction of rotation and the beltsander part was ready. It is so much nicer to work with now! The rear of the pedestal had exactly enough room for my homemade 12 Ton press, it was as if it was meant to go there!

I added some tabs on the bottom of the press frame and welded a mounting strip to the pedestal, I want the press to be removeable in case I want to attach the beadroller for example. I fabbed a little "cage" to hold the 12 ton jack in the correct position, next I will add 4 triangular gussets to the pedestal and maybe some wheels to make it easy to move around the workshop.

Lumi (the giant baby Husky) is getting bored now so I will continue next time...
